PHORMIUM Blondie \nCommonly known as New Zealand Flax or occasionally as Flax Lily. \nThis brand-new cultivar was discovered on a nursery in Tauranga New Zealand in 2011 and is a sport of Phormium Cream Delight. \nPhormium Blondie features narrow arching and twisting leaves with a broad creamy-yellow mid-stripe edged with chartreuse green and bordered with a thin greyish-purple outer margin. \nTall panicles or spikes of small, red, tubular flowers are produced in summer. \nBlondie grows only 60cn tall and if left undisturbed will eventually form a clump around 1.5m wide. \nSimply stunning when planted in pots where the unique weeping foliage will cascade beautifully over the edge of the container. \nGreat for a sunny patio or a courtyard garden and can also be used to help brighten dark or partially shaded areas of the garden, yet Phormium Blondie is also adaptable enough to be grown indoors. \nCan be planted in full sun or part shade and prefers a moist but well drained soil but will tolerate coastal conditions. \nHardy to -10 but in areas prone to severe frost it would perhaps be best to move container grown plants of Blondie into a greenhouse or conservatory for the winter. \nAll pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom, they are for illustration purposes only and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year. \nOur plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions. \nPlant Haven have a wonderful on this super new variety. \nPACK 1 PLANT \nIMMEDIATE \n \nOur wide and varied range of Perennials can be view here. \nPlease remember, plant maintenance within our nursery is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth. \nWe ask all our buyers to remember Phormium Blondie is a living item and its appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website.
