KNIPHOFIA rooperi
\nOver the years Kniphofia has gathered a number of common names, tritoma, torch lily, poker plant but is perhaps best known as Red Hot Poker.
\nRooperi is a clump forming evergreen perennial native to the coastal marshes of South Africa.
\nBroad, sword-shaped, arching, green foliage, arranged in arching rosettes and topped by dense spikes of elongated or egg shaped lime yellow blooms fading to orange-red as the mature.
\nKniphofia blooms, carried on strong, stout stems are long lasting usually beginning in late August and often still showing colour well into November.
\nGrowing 1.2–1.5 m tall this impressive landscape plant provides a brilliant patch of colour in autumn when many other flowering shrubs and plants are past their peak and beginning to fade.
\nBees find Kniphofia rooperi particularly attractive as do many other beneficial insects.
\nAlthough at its best in a rich, fertile, moist but well drained soil it is still adaptable enough to grow in a large container.
\nFully hardy rooperii will thrive in full sun or partial shade.

\nWe supply Kniphofia rooperi ex. 10cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions.
