Alchemilla Mollis. Lady’S Mantle.
ALCHEMILLA mollis
\nLady’s Mantle
\nAlchemilla mollis forms small spreading clumps of fan shaped, apple green leaves, neatly folded and covered in soft down.
\nOften over looked by gardeners seeking something more exotic, Lady’s Mantle is frequently described as “the florist’s best friend” and is a beautiful and useful perennial no garden should be without.
\nFrom June thru September the plants are topped by sprays of tiny greenish yellow flowers much beloved by florists and flower arrangers.
\nAlchemilla mollis collects water in the folds of the leaves and when these tiny droplets sparkle and shine they give the whole plant a magical appearance.
\nIn days gone by these droplets of water were said to have healing powers.
\nTolerant of a wide range of growing conditions and once established Lady’s Mantel is virtually drought resistant.
\nUseful all over the garden and happy in full sun or shade.
\n When planted en-mass Alchemilla is a very efficient weed suppressor and is also often used to great effect to edge pathways and borders.
\nIf the plants are pruned hard in August after the first flush of flowers has died and given a high potash feed the leaves will quickly return and you will be rewarded with a second flush of blooms in early autumn.
\nAlchemilla has a tendency to self-seed but this can be avoided by removing the faded flowers before they have a chance to form seed-heads.
\nRoyal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

\nWe ask all our buyers to remember Alchemilla plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons. Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.\n\nWe want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Alchemilla plants are checked and inspected visually before packing. at . . Due to the nature of the item we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll.
