GERANIUM Brookside \nCommonly known as Cranesbill and sometimes referred to as Hardy Geranium. \nFirst grown in the British Isles in the 16th century the Cranesbill should not be confused with the half hardy Pelargonium popularly referred to as Geranium \nUsually found in the herbaceous border Brookside is a relatively new variety of this well-known cottage garden favourite. \nIt forms slow, creeping mats of very finely cut mid-green leaves and may occasionally grow to approx. 45cm tall. \nFrom mid-summer to autumn the foliage of Brookside is smothered in attractive, deep blue, saucer shaped flowers with white centres. \nA doyen of the herbaceous border, when planted en-mass Geranium Brookside makes superb groundcover. \nLeft to grow unhindered it will eventually spread to form large, weed smothering drifts. \nCranesbill will grow happily in any reasonable garden soil in full sun or dappled shade. \nA long flowering season makes Brookside great for attracting bees and many other pollinators to the garden. \nThe saucer shaped flowers should be removed once they have faded. \nIf Brookside plants start to look a bit scruffy in mid-summer they respond well to being trimmed back. \nLarge or overcrowded clumps of Hardy Geranium can be lifted and split or divided in March or April. \nKeep for slugs in spring and cut back the stems to ground level in autumn. \nRoyal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM). \nAll pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year. \nOur Geranium plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions \nFor tips on how to grow this plant visit John Lord's Secret Garden . \nPACK 1 PLANT \nIMMEDIATE \n \nOur wide and varied range of Perennials can be viewed here. \nPlease remember plant maintenance within our nursery is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth. \nWe ask all our buyers to remember Cranesbill are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website.
