Sequoia sempervirens, Coastal Redwood, Height 60cm, 2-liter pot.

Sequoia sempervirens, better known as the coast redwood, is known worldwide as the tallest tree species in the world. In its natural habitat on the west coast of North America, this tree can reach impressive heights. In European gardens, the final height generally remains lower, but here too it grows into a striking and stately tree. The coast redwood is an evergreen conifer with soft, fresh green foliage and a straight, upright trunk. Due to its slender growth habit, it is suitable for larger gardens, parks, or as a solitary tree where there is room for long-term development. About the Sequoia sempervirens (coastal redwood) Sequoia sempervirens grows relatively quickly in its youth and develops a straight trunk with a narrow, pyramidal crown. The foliage remains green all year round and provides structure to the garden even in winter. The tree grows best in a sunny to semi-shady location in well-drained, slightly moist soil. During dry periods, extra watering is recommended in the first few years. The species is quite hardy in the Dutch climate, although young plants may benefit from some protection during severe frost.
